Benelli Tornado 550: Why is this 56 hp sportbike one of the most complete middleweights?

The Benelli Tornado 550 enters the competitive middleweight sportbike segment with a combination of 554 cc twin-cylinder engine, premium components, advanced technology and everyday usability. With 56 hp, Brembo brakes and Marzocchi suspension, it aims to provide an option for riders looking for a sporty machine without compromising comfort and versatility.

A sportbike designed to combine performance and everyday practicality

Developed by Benelli’s R&D department together with Centro Stile Benelli in Pesaro, the Tornado 550 develops the technical platform introduced by the TNT 500 concept and transforms it into a completely faired sports machine.

Its sharp bodywork, compact proportions and aggressive surfaces create a distinctive identity, while the front LED signature takes inspiration from Benelli’s historical icons.

554 cc twin-cylinder engine with strong torque delivery

The Tornado 550 is powered by a Euro 5+ parallel twin engine, which is an evolution of Benelli’s previous 500 cc platform. The 554 cc unit produces 41.2 kW (56 hp) at 8,250 rpm and 54 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm.

Engine updates focus on better power delivery, better response and a more engaging ride experience. The six-speed gearbox has also been refined to provide greater comfort during long rides.

Marzocchi suspension and Brembo braking hardware

The chassis comprises a steel tubular frame with components designed to provide agility, stability and rider confidence.

The fully adjustable Marzocchi inverted front fork and adjustable rear shock allow riders to fine-tune handling characteristics, while Brembo front braking components provide strong and precise stopping performance.

A sporty motorcycle designed for everyday riding

Despite its aggressive styling, the Tornado 550 remains practical for daily use. The 800 mm seat height improves accessibility, while the riding position balances sportiness and comfort.

With a 16.5-litre fuel tank and a claimed fuel consumption of 4 litres/100 km, Benelli says the Tornado 550 can achieve a range of over 400 km.

Advanced technology for the middleweight sport segment

The Tornado 550 features a 5-inch color TFT display with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone integration, USB and USB-C charging ports, and TPMS tire monitoring.

Riders can choose between normal and sport riding modes, disable traction control and access navigation through the Carbit application.

Available in black and white, the Benelli Tornado 550 aims to stand out with its combination of sporty design, twin-cylinder performance and a high level of standard equipment.
