All Outdoors Review – Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph

The chronograph is an interesting piece of technology. Either shooters use them religiously to collect data for developing reloads, creating DOPE cards (Data on Previous Engagements), or they avoid them altogether thinking it’s too much work to be worth them. I may have used “old school” chronographs, which had huge rabbit ears, worked only on sunny days (but not too sunny), and required perfect positioning near the muzzle, otherwise no data would register. In ancient times this always happened smoke ‘n mirrors Mysteries about them. For those myriad reasons, I was hesitant to review it Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph. A word from Athlon Optics on the Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph

The Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro makes ballistic calculations easy with a radar chronograph. Using Doppler radar, it tracks your projectile without adding anything to your barrel – so it won’t alter your zero or disrupt barrel harmonics. This means you can test loads and confirm real-world velocities while maintaining the same accuracy on target.

Because it does not rely on muzzle blast to trigger, Velocity Pro reliably captures shots from suppressed rifles and firearms equipped with muzzle brakes, compensators and other muzzle devices. And with a wide measurement range of 65 to 5,000 fps, it’s built to handle everything from low-velocity projectiles to high-speed rifle rounds – giving you dependable data in a variety of setups.

Range Experience – Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph

so, how did it happen Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph Perform on the Range?… To test this chronograph, I used it to collect data on a rifle that was suppressed, not suppressed, and I also fired some of the newly announced 6.5 Creedmoor+braid ammunition that has been in trouble With an additional 300 fps (feet per second) compared to normal 6.5 Creedmoor ammo.

Taking the chronograph out of the box, everything was intuitive. That being said, I still read the very brief owner’s manual to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Once the chronograph was charged via its USB-C cord, I was able to take it to the range to start collecting some data.

The owner’s manual states that the chronograph should be installed 4 feet from the muzzle of your firearm, and I found this to be very forgiving. So, good to see that. Also, the fact that it can collect 65 fps and velocity up to 5,000 fps makes this chronograph very valuable. So, whether I’m testing a crossbow or a magnum varmint cartridge Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph Should be able to take almost anything.

Suppressed, unsuppressed, and with something spicy while shooting 6.5 Creedmoor+braid ammunition, I noticed no change in the chronograph’s ability to take velocity readings. It was instant and fast every time. It was also easy to cycle through the different data strings of the fire. all about Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar ChronographThe user interface was simple and easy to work with. Large buttons that activate easily when pressed, a simple menu to navigate, and the ability to change the color or brightness of the display – so it’s easiest for you to see depending on your indoor or outdoor lighting conditions – all made me really enjoy using this chronograph.

It was easy to figure out, not overly complicated, and it works smoothly even if you have a muzzle device on your firearm and even if the chronograph is not perfectly positioned near the muzzle. Any horrors I’ve experienced with old-school chronographs were not a problem with this new model from Athlon. For an MSRP of $499, I’m confident that this chronograph is worth it.
