Acast has launched Places, Dahlingz!, a weekly comedy podcast series hosted by Billy Porter, Leslie Jones, and Phoebe Robinson, available in both audio and video formats.
The show’s inaugural season will feature 48 episodes, bringing together three distinct perspectives: Billy Porter as a theatre icon, Leslie Jones as a theatre sceptic, and Phoebe Robinson as a theatre convert.
Each episode mixes celebrity interviews with a creative social experiment, as the hosts sit down with Broadway stars such as Shoshana Bean, Ariana DeBose, and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
At the end of every conversation, guests contribute
At the end of every conversation, guests contribute a prompt, line, or musical idea, which the hosts and writers will use to create an original one-act show.
This process will culminate in a live finale performance and a recorded table read.
The podcast is produced by Acast Productions, with co-creators Evan Trevor Thompson, Rachel Borders, and Jeff Kasanoff also as executive producers alongside Jenny Kaplan, Emily Rudder, Phoebe Robinson, Billy Porter, Leslie Jones, and DJ Gugenheim.
The show is made in collaboration with Tiny Reparations and Incognegro.
Acast is supporting the podcast with global sales and tailored monetisation options for brands, including host-read integrations, title sponsorships, bespoke video content, and live event activations.
Billy Porter said: Theatre should never be precious
Billy Porter said: “Theatre should never be precious or exclusionary. It should be a celebration. Joining Leslie and Phoebe to build a brand-new show from scratch alongside our guest stars is going to be pure electric chaos, and I can’t wait for audiences to join us every week.”
Leslie Jones added: “I love a live audience as a performer and the electricity that comes from being in the moment. So when Billy and Phoebe said we were going to make our own show from guest prompts, I knew I had to be there to have fun, create and manage some chaos, and give my honest opinions.”
The official trailer for Places, Dahlingz! will br released on 22 October, with the first episode launching on all major podcast platforms on Thursday, 5 November.
