Motorcycle theft in Britain should create fear among the riders there. I don’t write this to spread fear; I’m writing this because riders are not only at risk of losing their bike; They are in danger of being attacked. Motorcycle thefts and assault related crimes are on the rise, especially in London, and unfortunately, many criminals never face justice.

But this time, I am happy to report that four particularly bad criminals are behind bars.

Cameron Stevens, 22, Brandon Carter, 22, Sonny Davis, 20, and Marshall Thomas were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on July 3 after admitting a number of offences. According to police, Stevens, Thomas and Carter stole and handled motorcycles and scooters with a combined estimated value of between £600,000 and £1 million ($805,215 and $134,2025) throughout 2025.

Thomas, Stevens and Carter were sentenced to 10, eight and three years respectively, while Davis, along with Thomas and Carter, were sentenced to three years for the kidnapping and violent assault of a 15-year-old boy on July 30 last year.

The trio stole dozens of high-end motorcycles over a six-month period in 2025, but their crimes didn’t end there. Inspector Richard Fear, of Avon and Somerset Police, said that incidents of motorcycle theft were “increasingly increasing and becoming more violent” and said the crimes were often committed during the day in public areas. Fear also said the gang violently attacked members of the public with tools such as angle grinders.

Last December, the gang carried out a “violent and terrifying attack” on a security guard who tried to stop them from stealing a motorcycle. The incident was “crucial” to catching the gang, Fear said. After the attack, the gang used the stolen motorcycle to search for other bikes, and police were able to trace their movements. But something tells me that the gang members would have been caught anyway, even if the police had not found this clue.

Even after committing so many thefts, the group of men were still thinking that they were invincible, so they started posting videos of themselves riding the stolen motorcycles on social media. I can’t imagine they’ll keep doing this for long without getting caught. James Lovett, one of the gang’s victims, said it was “quite sad” to watch videos of criminals riding stolen bikes online. Between all four men, the combined sentence is 24 years behind bars. The question is, do you think this is enough?
