Hyundai is hiring an AI Control Systems Engineer to develop advanced tech for future trucks and SUVs, focusing on intelligent towing, terrain adaptation, and predictive maintenance.

The Korean automaker is currently seeking an AI Control Systems Engineer to join its technical center in Superior Township, Michigan. This role is pivotal to the development of next-generation Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles for the North American market.

The position requires an engineer proficient in machine learning, reinforcement learning, and model predictive control to significantly enhance vehicle performance. The primary focus of this role involves advancing heavy-duty towing capabilities and rugged off-road performance through innovative AI integration.

The AI estimates payload, trailer mass, and tire-road

The AI estimates payload, trailer mass, and tire-road friction without extra sensors. This technology would allow vehicles to automatically optimize powertrain, braking, and stability control for towing and off-road performance. Through “Intelligent Towing Assist” and “Terrain Adaptation,” Hyundai aims to create more autonomous, responsive vehicles capable of real-time environmental adjustments and predictive maintenance.

Hyundai’s new AI initiative aims to use machine learning to predict mechanical failures during towing and off-road use. By alerting drivers to issues like overheating or brake wear, this technology represents a highly practical and innovative step forward for vehicle safety and reliability.
