Ever since the US federal government loosened up the regulations around suppressors, more and more American hunters are moving to use these sound-reducing devices, just as they have already been used in Europe for years. Gun manufacturers are also adopting this trend and introducing new models that are designed for suppressors rather than requiring modifications. The new kid on the block here is CVA, which just released its Cascade SR rifle.
Presumably, SR stands for “suppressor ready”, as the rifle comes with a threaded muzzle that makes it easy to attach a silencer. Not that you’ll actually be completely silent, as a suppressor can only silence a round like the .300 Win Mag. This is the strongest round the rifle has chambered; It comes in a wide range of calibers from .223 and up, including even straight-walled options.
Along with the muzzle threading, CVA also reduced the barrel length on the Cascade SR, so that it would be less unwieldy in the woods or blind after adding the extra inch of a suppressor on the muzzle. Depending on which caliber you order, the rifle comes in barrel lengths of 16.5 inches, 18 inches, or 20 inches.
They gave the stock a camo finish (Realtree Advantac Black) with a removable one-inch spacer to dial in your length of pull. The metal gets a Duracoat corrosion-resistant finish, and it has an adjustable trigger (turn it from a 4-pound pull to a 2-pound pull).
