The 10 fastest cars at Goodwood this year

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an event like no other. This is more than just a fancy car show; Every year, hundreds of cars race up the 1.16-mile hill climb to see who can go the fastest.

Everything from classic race cars to modern hypercars went faster this year, and the top 10 fastest cars were even more numerous than usual. These cars were built to compete.

Rounding out the top ten was the Toyota-owned Formula Supra driven by Ryan Tuerck. He posted a 49.02-second time. The Dodge Viper GTS-R was slightly faster, followed by the Nissan 300ZX Turbo. Travis Pastrana landed in the mid-pack, piloting his Subaru Bratar 9500 Turbo (which we got a closer look at).

The two fastest cars this year were electric vehicles, with Ford’s heavily modified Super Mustang Mach-E taking the top spot. This number two car was almost half a second faster than the fourth generation Formula E.

The Mustang was 4.33 seconds faster than the fastest combustion-powered car, which was better than the Ford supervan’s 4.2 from a few years earlier. But it was still behind the fastest car on the track. That’s an honor that goes to all-electric McMurty Spirling who completed the climb in 39.08 seconds.

These were the 10 fastest cars at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb event:

  1. Ford Super Mustang Mach-E – 41.98 seconds
  2. Formula 4 Gen4 – 42.46 sec
