Alan Millard's famous Dodge Viper V10 motorcycle is set to be auctioned for up to €176,000

One of the most famous hand-built motorcycles ever made is about to change hands. Alan Millard has decided to sell his famous Millard Viper V10, a unique motorcycle powered by the Dodge Viper GTS V10 engine. This unique machine will go under the hammer on July 22 and is expected to sell for up to €176,000, solidifying its status as one of the motorcycle’s most remarkable engineering projects.

The auction will be conducted by H&H Classics at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, UK. Auction experts estimate the final price to be between £100,000 and £150,000, which is equivalent to approximately €117,000 to €176,000 at current exchange rates.

A motorcycle engineered around the eight-liter Dodge Viper V10

The project began in 2004 when Alan Millard acquired an eight-litre V10 engine from a Dodge Viper GTS.

Rather than adapt the engine of an existing motorcycle, Millard designed and built a completely special chassis around the massive powerplant. Five years of handmade engineering resulted in one of the most unusual motorcycles ever made.

To cope with the engine’s enormous torque, Millard built a custom tubular frame, with a steel front section and light alloy rear structure, both mounted directly to the engine.

Despite its extraordinary size, the motorcycle was fully road legal in the United Kingdom and was officially registered in 2009.

500 hp, over 333 km/h and a Guinness World Record

The massive V10 produces nearly 500 hp, making the Millyard Viper V10 one of the most powerful street-legal motorcycles ever built.

During initial testing, rider Bruce Dunn exceeded 333 km/h without using full throttle, later comparing the experience to launching on a space rocket.

Engineering solutions extend beyond the engine. The front suspension consists of components originally designed for JCB heavy machinery, while the rear uses modified Yamaha R1 shock absorbers. The handcrafted exhaust system also features ceramic coating to withstand the extreme temperatures generated by the V10 engine.

In 2023, Alan Millard and television presenter Henry Cole entered the Guinness World Records after reaching 295 km/h with two people, becoming the fastest rider and passenger pair officially recorded on a motorcycle.

A unique collector’s motorcycle unlikely to be seen again

The successful bidder will receive the motorcycle with its original documents and two interchangeable seats, including both single and dual-seat configurations.

Because this is the first motorcycle offered directly from the private collection of Alan Millard, it is expected to show significant interest from collectors.

More than just an extraordinary custom build, the Millyard Viper V10 is one of the finest examples of handcrafted motorcycle engineering, combining extreme performance, originality and craftsmanship in a package that is unlikely to ever be replicated.
