5 Summerween Romance Books

For those of us who love Halloween, the fact that it only happens once a year is completely regrettable. Luckily, there is a solution for this, and it’s called Summerween.

What is Samarween you may ask? Word “was born From an episode of Disney Channel gravity Falls Where residents of a mysterious town like to celebrate Halloween twice a year. In other words, it’s a fictional phenomenon inadvertently ignited by an episode of a TV show that allows Halloween everywhere to celebrate in horror style all summer long!

That’s right, friends, summertime is the perfect excuse to get your autumn feels on in the middle of the hottest season of the year (in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway). And what better way to turn up the heat than reading some spicy summertime romance?

The obvious book to check out would be Joss Wood’s lovely small-town romantic comedy, Because It’s Literally Called summer season – and it’s definitely worth a read. But I’m taking you into the woods to check out some additional options.

How (Not) to Renovate a Haunted House, Jenny L. howe book cover

How (not) to renovate a haunted house. By Jenny L. Howe

This fun YA romcom is a fat-positive romance of the haunted house genre by one of my favorite romance authors. Amity Callaway had everything planned for the summer after her senior year…until her mom uprooted her and moved across the country to a small New England town and a big old haunted house. Not that Amity believes in haunted houses, but it comes along with a lovable and quirky ghost hunter and amateur historian who is completely busy documenting the house’s paranormal activities. Howe’s trademark humor is in good form here, and this group of characters is just as enchanting as I’ve grown accustomed to. The combination of summer vacation and a chilling haunted house makes for the perfect summertime experience.

Released this summer as Summerween Read, Elise Lynn’s adventurous book follows Samantha “Sabby” Spook, a fresh college graduate and newly minted accountant. But when her grandmother dies, Sabbie is forced to return home to Salem, Massachusetts – the most Halloween of towns – and take over the family’s magical wedding planning business. The creatures and characters that inhabit her world are extremely unpredictable (including the love interests she meets). in a cemetery), and Sabbi’s efforts to find herself and figure out what she really wants are heartwarming.

The Good Vampire’s Guide to Blood and Boyfriends By Jamie D’Amato

This paranormal YA romance centers on Brennan, a college student returning from summer vacation who has survived a suicide attempt… and become a vampire. Cue adorable librarian Cole, a secret society, and a super sweet love story, and it’s one of plenty. D’Amato’s characters are well-written, and the story’s treatment of mental health is sensitive and thoughtful – perfect for its target audience. Even though it is set at the end of summer vacation, it still manages to give a solid summer feel.

If you’re in the mood for a short Summerween read, this novel from a beloved romance author is a great solution. Set on the fictional Isla Bruja off the coast of Miami, rising fashion designer (and witch) Catalina Cartagena has returned from NYC to attend her sister’s wedding. As you can imagine, there are a lot of magical problems, and of course, Kat must team up with her high school nemesis, the charming bunny girl, to fight off demons who intend to turn the wedding into a shambles forever.

road trip with a vampire by Jenna Levin

There’s something about a road trip novel that screams “summer” every time. But when the road trippers are a reformed witch trying to bury her bizarre past and a sexy yoga-loving vampire who’s lost her memories, it’s Summerween to the extreme. This is the third book in a series, but it can stand alone, and it has a fun fall flavor despite the summer setting. Plus, the love story between these two is actually pretty sweet: witch Zelda’s desire to deny her magical powers is a nice self-growth story, while vampire Peter’s search for his missing memories offers a light mystery for readers.
