35 years ago today: 'The greatest action film of all time' released

Thirty-five years ago today, a decade-defining action film debuted in theaters. Fast forward to the present, and it is one of the greatest films ever made, regardless of era or genre.

The 90s were a special time for fans of action/adventure films. like blockbuster total Recall (1990), die hard 2, the fugitive (1993), Heat (1995), rock (1996), encounter (1997) and math question (1999) was packed with brilliant storytelling, heart-pounding stunts, and out-of-this-world action sequences.

The film also offered a pleasant surprise twist early on. Schwarzenegger’s character was the villain in the first film, sent to kill Sarah Connor and prevent the birth of her son John so that the Skynet AI system could defeat the human race.

But it turned out early on that Schwarzenegger was a good guy. John and the Resistance send a reprogrammed Terminator (Schwarzenegger) back to 1995 to prevent the more lethal and advanced T-1000 (Robert Patrick) from killing John and securing victory for Skynet.

Patrick’s cool, dangerous, and calculated portrayal of the T-1000 put him on the map in the 90s. The on-screen chemistry between Patrick, Schwarzenegger, Edward Furlong (John) and Linda Hamilton (Sarah) was part of what made this film a cinematic masterpiece.

The groundbreaking CGI and breathtaking stunts established it as a true Hollywood classic.
