The San Antonio Spurs were very close to winning the 2026 NBA Finals, but very far away. With double-digit leads in each game of the series, the Spurs looked poised to take the title from the long-suffering Knicks, but they lost the cushion they had held in four of five games.

Harper is scheduled to begin the 2026–2027 season in the starting lineup. It would be unfair to San Antonio if it continues to hold on to its young superstar guard.

The Spurs need a better frontcourt. Wemby is the only man taller than 6’5” in the starting lineup. San Antonio needs someone who can help the team utilize smaller lineups while Wembey moves to the bench while still maintaining adequate skills on the court. Aaron Gordon If the Nuggets want to explore a trade for their oft-injured athletic forward, Denver could be someone to kick the Nuggets tires.

Sometimes the only thing that needs to be done is to be patient and move on. The Spurs made a lot of self-inflicted mistakes in the NBA Finals. They can improve internally by not repeating the same errors. Play with the same strength you do in the first half of the game. Use players like Devin Vassell to shoot more three-pointers. Work on your late-game execution. These are all team developments that could happen without any trades.
