- The McMurtry Spiraling Pure is the production version of the incredible prototype hypercar that’s breaking track records.
- Only 100 examples are to be built, with prices starting at $1,300,000 each.
- The Spiraling Pure delivers approximately 1,000 hp and is capable of 4,400 pounds of downforce through its fan system.
If you’ve been paying attention to the wild world of hypercars, a new name has come to the fore in the last few years and is on the tip of everyone’s tongue: McMurtry Automotive. Based in the UK, the McMurtry team has blown minds and preconceptions with their Sperling prototype. The electric hypercar delivers four-figure horsepower, but even more fascinating is its carrying capacity 4,400 pounds downforce At a speed of zero miles per hour.
While the prototype is busy setting track records around the world, the team is preparing the production version. Meet McMurtry Spiraling Pure.

The car is largely identical to the prototype, but McMurtry says the Pure has 95 percent new components. The battery pack is larger, growing from a 60.0-kilowatt-hour unit to a more useful 100.0-kilowatt-hour pack. McMurtry has reworked the driver’s motors, adjusted the cooling system, tweaked the exterior design, and now says the carbon-fibre monocoque meets global motorsport standards, while also allowing more elbow and legroom for the driver.
That’s all well and good, but with this kind of technical excellence, we know you’ll want to delve deeper into the specifics.
The Spiraling Pure uses a pair of electric motors but only drives the rear wheels. Power is rated at 986 horsepower, and that’s enough to help the Sparling Pure sprint from 0-60 mph, requiring only 1.55 seconds of your time.
With the 100.0-kWh pack, McMurtry claims the Spiraling Pure can handle 25 to 31 miles of race distance at full LMP2 speeds before needing to charge. Charge time gets a little vague, as McMurtry suggests a range of 20 to 60 minutes depending on ambient temperature and charger capacity. But keeping the best-case scenario in mind, you can get back on track in a relatively short period of time.

Magnificent McMurtry Fan System
You’ve probably seen the videos. McMurtry is so confident in its downforce-on-demand fan system that it lets people experience the car in reverse at zero mph. This is possible due to a pair of high-speed fans mounted under the car, which work with the skirt system to generate more than 4,400 pounds of downforce.
The dual-fan system is meant for redundancy, so that if one fan fails, the other will maintain a large amount of downforce. And if a driver experiences a spin, the system will stop the car far more quickly than your plebeian hypercars devoid of such fan systems.
When the fan is on at full speed, sparkling pure may be generated 3G during cornering and braking. This level of track toy play has been experienced by very few people on this planet. And certainly few will experience sparkling pure.
McMurtry plans to build only 100 examples. Prices start at $1.3 million each, and owners can add optional factory support for any racing they do with their Spiraling Pure. McMurtry says the Spurling Pure will be allowed to compete in GT1 Sports Club and Global Time Attack events in the US. European events include the Time Attack Masters series.
If you happen to attend the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed you’ll be able to take a look at the car. Otherwise, the car will arrive on American soil during Monterey Car Week.

motor1 tech:The Spiraling Pure is a technological masterpiece that will find its way into the hands of very few people. Hopefully this level of performance capability allows McMurtry to create more models with similar technology and more acceptable price points.
Nonetheless, the car is truly amazing, and we’re happy to see it come to fruition.
