2027 KTM Australia Adventure Rally heads to Victoria

From the goldfields to the Great Ocean Road for the 2027 KTM Adventure Rally

KTM Australia has revealed the route and dates for the historic 10th edition of its Australia Adventure Rally, with the 2027 event set to take riders from Victoria’s historic goldfields through the Grampians and up the Great Ocean Road.

Scheduled for 14-19 March 2027, the KTM Australia Adventure Rally: VIC Range will consist of five days and approximately 1500 kilometers of riding, starting and ending in Ballarat.

Places will be limited to 130 riders, with entry open exclusively to eligible road-registered KTM Adventure models.

The five-day supported ride will take the KTM Rally Region through farmland, forests and hill country.

Goldfields, Grampians and the Great Ocean Road

The 2027 rally will start with a loop around Ballarat and then head west to Halls Gap, at the foot of the Grampians and over the western edge of Victoria’s Great Dividing Range.

From Halls Gap, the route will turn south towards the Southern Ocean, with overnight stops scheduled for Port Campbell and Lorne, before riders complete the journey with a final return to Ballarat.

The course is expected to encompass the diverse terrain of south-west Victoria, including the Goldfields Track, the rocky landscape of the Grampians, the Otways Forest Trails and the Great Ocean Road and sections running close to the Southern Ocean coastline.

Main and breakout routes

As with previous KTM Australia Adventure Rallies, the course is being developed to accommodate riders of different levels of experience.

A main route will include more accessible gravel roads, flowing forest tracks and scenic bitumen transport sections, while alternative breakout routes will add more technical terrain for riders seeking an additional challenge.

Those breakout sections can include rocky climbs and descents, tight trails and creek crossings, with KTM using its established chili-rating system to indicate the relative difficulty of each option.

Navigation will be primarily by GPS, supported by course arrows, daily route sheets and rider briefings covering fuel locations, lunch stops and points of interest.

Housing packages added for 2027

A significant change for the 2027 event will be the introduction of accommodation packages that can be selected during registration.

The package will cover six nights, with single and twin-share options available. KTM says all accommodation will be within walking distance of the nightly bivouac and dinner site, reducing the amount of separate planning required before the event.

Riders traveling alone will also be able to select a twin-share package and be paired with another rally participant.

Accommodation packages start at $850 per rider and will be allocated on a first-register basis. The accommodation fee is in addition to the standard program entry fee.

Camaraderie and shared experiences are at the heart of the KTM Australia Adventure Rally formula.
