One of the most prestigious awards given to comics, the 2026 Eisner Awards were presented at San Diego Comic Con last weekend. They are given to comics published in the United States in the previous year, although the creators themselves are not required to be American.
The award began in 1988 and is named after comics pioneer Will Eisner. As of 2026, Eisners have been given in 32 categories. Awards are also given to honor excellence in writing, newcomers to comics, best retailer, and others.
This year’s list of finalists included titles from 75 different publishers, with DC Comics, Fantagraphics, and Image Comics receiving the most nominations at 16, 14, and 12, respectively.
