Lionel Messi is set to play in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday when Argentina, trying to repeat as tournament champions, take on Spain.
Messi’s longtime wife and childhood sweetheart, Antonella Roccuzzo, will almost certainly be in attendance for the match.
Messi and Roccuzzo’s relationship history
Roccuzzo and Messi have long history together After first meeting in childhood through a relative before reconnecting in 2005.
Interestingly, Roccuzzo studied dentistry at the National University of Rosario before relocating to Barcelona, Spain six months later when she was 19 to be closer to Messi. That step marked the beginning of their relationship.
The couple officially married in 2017 after welcoming their first two children together.
Thiago was born in 2012, Mateo was born in 2015 and after their marriage, they welcomed their third child, Ciro, in 2018.
Rokuzo’s social media presence
While Rokuzo doesn’t have the same 513 million Instagram followers as her husband, she has built a huge social media following of her own by documenting her personal journey and family life.
She currently has 41.3 million followers on Instagram, has also modeled and regularly shares glimpses of her life with Messi and their three sons.
Messi speaks on home life
Before this year’s World Cup, Messi explained That he sees himself as a normal person away from the limelight. When he returns home, he tries to be the same husband and father he has always been.
“Obviously, when I walk into my home with my family, I try to be a normal dad, a normal husband, just like any other guy,” Messi said.
I am beyond all the things that happen to me – fame (and) recognition – that I can get outside. Inside my home, I’m a very normal person.”

during a 2019 interview with MarcaMessi made it clear how much he appreciates his wife and everything she brings to his life.
“The truth is that (I) admire everything. She has many good qualities: how she works on a daily basis; her personality; she is always in a good mood; and she always approaches problems in an admirable way. She is a very intelligent person who is great in all aspects of life.”
