VinFast booked USD 1.17 billion in revenue in the Q2 2026, but operating loss rose 198%.
JAKARTA – VinFast recorded revenue of 30.3 trillion Vietnamese dong, or around USD 1.17 billion, in the second quarter of 2026, up 85.5% from the same period last year. Growth was supported by electric vehicle sales in Vietnam and contributions from international markets, including Indonesia.
According to Reuters, despite strong revenue growth, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer continued to face operational pressure. VinFast’s operating loss surged 198% year on year to USD 1.16 billion in the second quarter of 2026.
VinFast recorded a gain of around USD 1.18
Meanwhile, VinFast recorded a gain of around USD 1.18 billion from discontinued operations, mainly arising from the transfer of manufacturing assets as part of the company’s restructuring.
The gain reduced its net loss by around 93% to USD 54.65 million compared with the same period a year earlier.

VinFast announced its restructuring plan in May 2026. Under the plan, the company transferred manufacturing assets worth around USD 530 million to a group of buyers who would also assume approximately USD 6.9 billion in debt. The transaction was completed in September 2026.
Targeting global market growth
VinFast CEO and Chairman Pham Nhat Quan Anh
VinFast CEO and Chairman Pham Nhat Quan Anh said the company would prioritise increasing production in international markets, particularly the Philippines, Indonesia and India. The company will also continue its strategic expansion in the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
In the second quarter of 2026, VinFast delivered 70,085 electric cars, a 20% increase from the previous quarter. Around 6% of total deliveries went to related parties.
To strengthen its market penetration, VinFast continues to expand its product lineup. In September 2026, the company launched the VF Wild, an electric pickup truck equipped with range-extender technology, in Vietnam. The model is scheduled to enter international markets in 2027.
VinFast was founded in 2017 and shifted its entire business focus to electric vehicles in 2022. The company is targeting positive EBITDA by the end of 2027. (DH/ZH)
