‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Podcast Goes Video As Audacy Launches New Season.

After decades of captivating television audiences and more recently podcast listeners, “Unsolved Mysteries” is taking its next step into video podcasting. Audacy is bringing the iconic true-crime franchise to YouTube for the first time in podcast form, expanding its reach with a new season of unsolved murders, mysterious disappearances and other cases that continue to defy explanation.

The new season premieres Thursday, Oct. 29, with weekly video episodes on YouTube alongside distribution across podcast platforms. The move gives the long-running franchise another way to reach audiences while creating additional opportunities for advertisers across audio and video.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding the Unsolved Mysteries brand in this pivot to the video podcast world,” says Terry Dunn Meurer, President/CEO of Unsolved Media and co-creator of the “Unsolved Mysteries” franchise. “There are still so many mysteries that need to be solved and we know we can reach a wide audience on YouTube and through Audacy’s distribution. And we hope our audience can help solve these mysteries, as they have for decades.”

The series will be hosted by Jordan Murphy,

The series will be hosted by Jordan Murphy, a television and film veteran with more than two decades of experience. Murphy has an unusual connection to the franchise: Early in his career, he portrayed an air traffic controller in an original “Unsolved Mysteries” television segment called “The Ghost Blimp,” about a Navy blimp that returned without its pilots. Now Murphy steps into the hosting role made famous by Robert Stack, guiding audiences through a new mystery each week.

The upcoming season will revisit some of the world’s most enduring mysteries, including the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, the vanishing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and the unsolved art heist at Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Other episodes will spotlight lesser-known cases, including stories submitted by viewers and listeners hoping renewed attention might produce new leads.

The “Unsolved Mysteries” podcast’s new season, complete with video, premieres Thursday, Oct. 29. It is produced by Unsolved Media in partnership with Audacy, which handles advertising sales and distribution.

‘Unsolved Mysteries’ has an incredibly passionate audience

“‘Unsolved Mysteries’ has an incredibly passionate audience and a legacy that continues to resonate across generations, and we’re excited to bring the podcast into a new era with video,” says Leah Reis-Dennis, Head of Podcasts at Audacy. “With Jordan Murphy at the helm and all-new cases to explore, this next chapter brings a fresh dimension to a beloved franchise and offers advertisers new opportunities to engage with a devoted fanbase across both audio and video.”

In addition to new Thursday episodes, the series will release updates on previously featured cases on select Tuesdays, drawing from both the podcast’s archives and the original television series.

The video expansion follows another recent move beyond the franchise’s traditional television and audio formats. Its first feature-length documentary, “Unmasking the Tylenol Killer,” is now streaming on The Roku Channel.
