Rumors of a Cadillac sedan replacement are in full swing this week, and we’re ready to add a little more fuel to the situation. A top sales person at Cadillac has just shared some more big news: Not only is Cadillac working on a gas-powered replacement CT5, but it looks an awful lot like it will essentially be a Cadillac version of the rumored Camaro sedan – and it’ll have a naturally aspirated V8 paired with a manual gearbox.
Andrea.sells.cadillac shared the news an instagram reel This also seems to confirm that the XT6 crossover will return soon.
“My sources have confirmed this and I haven’t heard it anywhere else,” he said. “The CT5-V will be powered by a naturally aspirated V8 engine and will be available with manual transmission and automatic.”
He estimated the price to be between $70,000-$80,000, which would be in line with the current CT5-V. We were immediately suspicious, given that this appears to be new information, so we reached out to Cadillac for confirmation.
That “naturally aspirated” part is the new piece of information here. Before this, we’d only heard rumors of a revived Camaro (possibly in four-door form) and a possible revival of the Blackwing with its supercharged V8. The current CT5-V is equipped with GM’s twin-turbocharged V6 and is sold exclusively with the automatic.
“We do not comment on future product speculation, and we have nothing new to announce at this time,” a Cadillac spokesperson confirmed to us via email. “That said, Cadillac has confirmed that the CT5 will return as an internal combustion product in the future.”
So, in other words, we’re not hearing “no.”
If (when?) that happens, it will be the first time since the discontinuation of the Chevrolet SS that GM has offered a naturally aspirated V8-powered sedan with a stick.
