There are currently more than 50 different Chinese cars to choose from in the UK, and that number is only going up. Here are 10 of the most exciting new Chinese cars coming in the next few years.

As recently as 2022, Chinese cars were something of a novelty on UK roads. BYD had just arrived with the Atto 3, and MG was the only other. Now though, there are loads of Chinese brands to choose from and over 50 models.

And there are plenty more to come. Existing Chinese brands are launching new cars, and there will be some all-new names appearing on our roads soon as well. Here are 10 of the most important.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

The 10 best Chinese cars coming out in the next year

1. BYD Ti7

The 10 best new Chinese cars coming to the UK soon

The BYD Ti7 is a rugged-looking seven-seat SUV with a powerful plug-in hybrid system. It can do up to 79 miles of electric power alone, and the 4.8-second 0-60mph time makes it almost as fast as a Volkswagen Golf R hot hatch.

Prices start from just under £48,000, which makes it around £5,000 more expensive than the Chery Tiggo 9. We’ll be driving it soon to see if it’s worth paying the extra.

2. Chery Tiggo 7

This is the new Chery Tiggo 7, and it looks more upright and rugged than the current car. There’s also a new Tiggo 7 X, which adds an even tougher look courtesy of some chunky black cladding and off-road tyres.

Inside you’ll find a slightly larger touchscreen than in the current Tiggo 7, as well as a simpler dashboard design. A full reveal with UK specs is expected in 2027.

3. Denza Bao 5

Denza is actually owned by BYD, but it’s more focussed on high-end luxury cars rather than mainstream motors. The Bao 5 is a massive, plug-in hybrid off-roader which goes toe-to-toe with the Land Rover Defender.

At £70,000, it’s slightly more expensive than the Defender, but you get way more kit as standard. The Bao 5 also has a lovely interior and a 544hp plug-in hybrid system, but we found that the Defender is more comfortable over bumps. The Bao 5 will arrive in showrooms at the end of 2026.

4. Denza Z9 GT

Denza’s final offering is the Z9 GT, a four-seater shooting brake which is available both as an electric car or with a plug-in hybrid engine. The former has three electric motors with a combined 1,156hp, over 100hp more than a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, while the PHEV has 776hp.

It may be more powerful than the Taycan, but with a 0-60mph time of 2.7 seconds it can’t quite beat the Porsche on straight-line speed. It also costs a whopping £105,000 for the EV, while the PHEV costs £95,000.

5. Geely Galaxy Cruiser

This is the new Geely Galaxy Cruiser, and it’s a big off-roader which bears more than a passing resemblance to a Land Rover Defender. Unlike the Defender, this car has a tri-motor plug-in hybrid system with a whopping 1,128hp.

It’ll also have AI-powered off-roading software which can automatically decide which mode you should be in based on the terrain, and it can even drive you out of a sticky situation by itself. The Galaxy Cruiser will arrive in the UK in 2028.

6. Geely Monjaro

Not to be confused with an appetite-suppressing drug, the new Geely Monjaro is a large plug-in hybrid SUV which will be an alternative to cars like the Skoda Kodiaq and Hyundai Santa Fe.

UK specs haven’t been announced yet, but we expect it to have around 240hp and an electric-only range of close to 70 miles. Prices could also start from around £45,000.

7. Lepas L6

Lepas is owned by Chery International – the same company behind Jaecoo, Omoda and Chery UK. It’s pitched as a posher, more fashion-forward brand than its siblings, and the L6 is an SUV which will be available with both hybrid and electric power options.

It shares parts under the skin with the Jaecoo 7 and Omoda 5, so you can expect a 1.5-litre petrol plug-in hybrid with roughly 56 miles of electric range, as well as a 67kWh battery in the electric version with around 270 miles of range. The price and specs will be confirmed when the car is launched later this year, but we reckon it’ll start from between £25,000 and £30,000.

8. Omoda 4

This is the new Omoda 4. You can think of it as an alternative to the Chery Tiggo 4, Toyota Yaris Cross and Renault Captur, and it’ll be available with both hybrid and electric power.

You can expect to see the same 1.5-litre hybrid engine as the Chery Tiggo 4, meaning it’ll have around 200hp on tap. The electric version will come along at a later date, but the petrol model should go on sale this year with prices starting from less than £25,000.

9. Xpeng L03

The new Xpeng L03 is a bit like one of those holographic cards you sometimes see in kids toys, because it looks like something different depending on the angle you’re viewing it from. At the front, you could be fooled into thinking it’s a Polestar 3, from the side it looks like a Lotus Eletre and the rear end is very Porsche Macan-esque.

It’ll go on sale in 2027 as an alternative to the Tesla Model Y, although there will also be a range-extender version with a small petrol engine alongside the EV. Full specs will be revealed soon, but we expect it to have around 300 miles of range and a price tag of close to £40,000.

10. Zeekr 8X

You can think of the Zeekr 8X as an alternative to cars like the new Audi SQ9. It has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, which may not sound like it’ll compete with the V8 engine in the Audi, but it’s also paired to a hybrid system to make a combined 1,400hp.

It’s also packed with tech, has a luxurious interior and it’s likely to cost around £70,000 when it arrives in the UK in a few years time. That’s over £30,000 less than the SQ9.
