A new weekly podcast and YouTube show, Snow Globe, is set to deliver detailed snow forecasts and winter sports insights to fans worldwide.
The show is hosted by Ed Leigh and Tim Warwood, known for their commentary on snowboarding and freeskiing at the Winter Olympics, and comes just two months after the BBC cancelled Ski Sunday following nearly five decades on air.
Snow Globe hopes to fill the gap left by Ski Sunday, offering a mix of expert analysis, weather updates, and interviews with athletes and enthusiasts.
Each Wednesday, listeners can expect a comprehensive snow
Each Wednesday, listeners can expect a comprehensive snow forecast for the weekend ahead, using data from snow-forecast.com.
This season, US forecasters predict a 70% chance of a historic El Niño, which could significantly impact snowfall patterns.
Ed Leigh commented: “This could be the strongest El Niño on record. But the effects are strongest around the Pacific Rim; in North America, California is traditionally colder and wetter, Alaska and British Columbia are warmer and drier, while Utah and Colorado could go either way.”
He added that in Europe, the effects
He added that in Europe, the effects are less predictable, but a disrupted polar vortex could bring Arctic storms further south, potentially improving snow quality in Scotland. Ed advised: “Look to higher altitudes and stay flexible for European snow.”
The first episode features Team USA freeskier Hunter Hess. Bear Grylls will appear the following week, with future episodes including Olympians and celebrity guests.
All episodes are available in full video on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, and include audience-submitted clips.
