As I walked on that ribbon of highway, I saw that endless sky way above me; I saw that golden valley below me; And I really thought: This land was made for you and me.
The song is maybe a little bit serious, definitely a little too nostalgic, but it rings completely true while driving. capital circle In West Virginia. There are few places in the United States that capture the spirit of Woody Guthrie’s songs like the Mountain State, and the best way to get a full picture of this beautiful place is on an epic drive-hike-eat-raft-style road trip. Combining the state’s top adventures on one road trip lets you see everything from the lush hills of the Appalachian Mountains to the deep canyons of the New River Gorge.
