Porsche's Toy Story cars raise $3.0 million for charity

  • Three one-off Porsche 911s inspired by Toy Story have been sold.
  • The unnamed buyer has pledged to donate $3 million to three different charities.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the American Red Cross and the Starlight Children’s Foundation will each receive $1 million.

Porsche has sold three of its cars toy Story The cars were unveiled earlier this month. All three are going to an anonymous buyer, who has pledged to donate $3.0 million to three different charities.

The three charities are Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the American Red Cross and the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and will each receive $1 million. The cars are going to a Porsche collector and philanthropist, who said, “When we first learned about this project – the incredible cars and the work these charities do for children and families – we knew it was a natural fit.”

The three Porsches come from the automaker’s Sonderwunsch (“Special Wishes”) department, where the team spent 350 hours hand-painting each vehicle. The 911 GT3 with the Weissach package has a Buzz Lightyear-inspired livery in white, green and purple, with the cabin getting a purple and green paint job.

The second car is the 911 Targa 4 GTS inspired by the Jessie. It’s more subtle on the outside than the GT3, with blue rocker panels and yellow accents, but inside it’s stunning. The majority of the cabin in the Targa features dark night blue leather, with red accents and cow-inspired floor mats.

Woody is a 911 Carrera T with a denim-like finish. The Sonderwunsch team pressed real denim into wet paint to give the car a unique look. Inside, the seats have more woody-inspired touches like a checkered pattern and brown leather.

Motor1’s Opinion: The last time Porsche teamed up with Pixar, the automaker raised $3.2 million for charity, and it’s nice to see these cars being used for a good cause. They put entertainment first and are great reminders not to take things too seriously.
