New Grand Tour Featuring Throttle House and TikTok Favorites Trainspotter Drops September 4th

next era of grand tour is upon us. We know who the new hosts will be-throttle house Thomas Holland and James Engelsman pair up with famous Weird Train TikToker Frances Bourgeois—and now we know when the trio’s first season is dropping. Six episodes will go live on Prime Video on September 4. Hey, it’s Friday.

Announced with the tagline, “New show. Same knobs,” the reboot grand tour Promises “big thrills, questionable car choices and plenty of laughs”, and will include the following scenarios, all drawn verbatim from Amazon press release: :

  • Crossing the Angolan desert in track cars
  • Exploring Malaysia’s vibrant car culture
  • Heading to California to test state-of-the-art performance cars
  • challenging fighter pilots and even the legal system of the entire country

It simply covers the bases for old school TG/GT: mass travel in vehicles that are badly suited for the task, cultural fishing trips out of water involving cars, and pretending to push the boundaries of international law. The announcement came with a few choice quotes from the stars, and I’m turning it over to Bourgeois so she can paint a nice picture in words with it:

“Since finishing filming the series, I haven’t stopped replaying every moment in my mind. It’s made me laugh, made my heart beat faster and my stomach turn…reminiscing about the tent I shared with Thomas and James, filled with sulfuric farts, while Angolan jackals prowled around outside. It feels like it was a dream, but it Knowing that we will soon get a chance to share our adventures makes me extremely excited!”

Farts and Jackals—I hate to say it, but this new series is really hitting all the right things. Many reading this will know about Holland & Engelsman, but if you’re less familiar with Bourgeois and what he can contribute to car shows, check out This train chasing video He did this with Chris Harris about two years ago. It was actually recommended by a commenter on my colleague Andrew’s previous blog (thanks!) grand tour Reboot, and it’s a nice little watch featuring the Mercedes-AMG CLK DTM Cabriolet. A solid recipe for success; We’ll see how the feature-length effort pans out.
