The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, has called for increased awareness of men’s health issues, including prostate and testicular cancers, mental health and the importance of early medical detection.
The association made the call in its November message to members, partners and the public, as it joined the global November campaign dedicated to promoting men’s health.
The FCT Chairperson of NAWOJ, Bassey Ita Ikpang, said the association was committed to promoting healthier families and building an inclusive society where the wellbeing and rights of everyone are valued.
She stressed the need for men to prioritise their health by seeking timely medical attention and undergoing appropriate health checks to prevent avoidable complications.
Ikpang also reaffirmed NAWOJ’s commitment to advancing the health, rights and empowerment of women and girls, strengthening family values and promoting inclusive communities.
According to her, a healthier society begins with healthy individuals and supportive families.
She urged members, partners and friends of the association to work collectively towards building healthier families and a more inclusive society.
The November message was issued under the theme: “Together, Let’s Build a Healthier Family and a More Inclusive Society.”
