Nacho Monreal urges Arsenal to sign Morgan Rodgers at any cost this summer

Nacho Monreal has issued a bold call for Arsenal to make Morgan Rodgers their key signing of the summer, insisting the Gunners must secure the Aston Villa sensation “at any cost”. With the transfer market heating up after the World Cup, talks between Arsenal and Villa are set to intensify as Rodgers prepares to return to England ahead of the upcoming preseason.

The 21-year-old forward is now one of the Premier League’s hottest properties after an exciting campaign for Villa, and his transfer fee is expected to exceed £100 million. The increase comes following Elliot Anderson’s £116 million transfer to Manchester City, which has dramatically increased the value of top attacking talents across the league.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly desperate to strengthen his attacking options as the club pursue both Rodgers and Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez. Amid growing speculation, Monreal has given his full support to the pursuit of Rodgers. Speaking to Betbrothers, the former Arsenal defender minced no words: “Morgan Rodgers is one of those players that Arsenal should sign at any cost. He is young and he had incredible performances for Villa last season. He is already one of the best players in the league and he will continue to be in the future because he is special. He has something very special.”

Monreal is adamant that Rodgers would fit perfectly into Arsenal’s tactical blueprint, which saw them crowned champions last season. “I think Arsenal have to continue to do what they did last season. They were champions. They were the best team in many different areas. Defensively, I think they were the best. In set pieces, they were the best. And if you can get a lot of points from set pieces, you have to continue to do that, don’t try and change,” Monreal insisted. He also addressed criticism of Arsenal’s excellent set piece record, saying, “I know people were a bit angry at the end of the season because they scored over 20 goals from set pieces, but that’s football.”

Despite excitement over a potential move for Rodgers, Aston Villa have shown no desire to part with their prized asset. The Midlands club have strengthened their position by tying Rodgers to a new contract until 2031, making it clear they have no intention of selling and are prepared to remain strong in negotiations.

With Arsenal’s ambitions clear and Monreal’s words resonating in north London, the coming weeks promise to be crucial in determining whether the Gunners can pull off one of the most explosive transfers of the summer window.
