This is Ish’s first novel after 2021 Clara and the Sun. But the man has been kept busy. In 2024, he released an eccentric collection of song lyrics for an American jazz singer (In the summer we crossed Europe in the rain).

Meanwhile, a film adaptation of Clara A film starring Amy Adams and Jenna Ortega is in the works, which will be released this October.

Will the beloved Booker winner, known for his deceptively simple thematic explorations and pervasive curiosity, bring us gold again? only time will tell.
