The decision the sports world has been waiting for is whether free agent LeBron James will decide to play basketball next season.
Despite being 41 years old, James continues to perform at an exceptionally high level. While some fans believed he would reveal his decision during a live episode of his “Mind the Game” podcast at “Fanatics Fest” on Thursday, he did not.
However, he provided plenty of insight into his thought process, revealing that his family was the biggest factor behind his decision and giving fans an idea of how long they can expect to see him play.
“This is a big decision not only for me but also for my family.” James said on Thursday. “Where do I want to spend the last part of my career? The last year or last two years of my NBA career.”

James is already the longest-tenured player in NBA history and is set to enter his 24th NBA season. If he decides to leave, the upcoming season could mark his final year with the Los Angeles Lakers or potentially even his fourth team, unless he chooses to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers or Miami Heat.
Outside of Cleveland and Miami, other potential landing spots that have emerged in rumors include the Golden State Warriors, where he could team up with Stephen Curry, and the Philadelphia 76ers, who have reportedly shown interest in pairing James with Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey.
Beyond those four teams, it doesn’t seem like many other options really exist, and James suggested his decision will come sooner rather than later.
“I won’t keep you guys much longer,” James added In celebration of radicals.
