Ford Motor Co. CEO Jim Farley said on Tuesday that the automaker’s $30,000 electric pickup truck, Fathom, will enable owners to power their homes without needing a wall-mounted inverter unit.
Farley Says Ford Making Technology ‘Accessible’
In a post on X, the CEO shared that the Ford Fathom, based on the automaker’s Universal EV Platform, will feature “bidirectional power” tech that will allow owners to power their homes and “bring more than 10 kW of home power—without a separate wall-mounted inverter.”

Notably, Tesla Inc.’s vehicles also support vehicle-to-home power, but a Powerwall 3 unit is required to use the technology for the Model 3 and Model Y, while the Cybertruck can directly power homes
“Making the technology more accessible is one part of the work. We’re also working with utilities to make connecting these vehicles simpler and scalable,” Farley said.
The CEO touted Ford collaborating with companies like American Electric Power Company Inc., Pacific Gas & Electric Co., CMS Energy Corp, Exelon Corp and Canada’s BC Hydro.
At @Ford, we want to make the best technology available to the many, not just the few. We want to make products that have great tech, while still being affordable.

Ford says the vehicle’s two-way electricity flow can charge the vehicle when electricity costs less and power the owners’ homes when electricity costs rise
“The only hardware required is Ford’s Home Power Station, which is expected to cost about half as much as our first-generation bidirectional charger,” Ford said in a statement released on Tuesday.
On the other hand, the Fathom would also power homes when there’s no power. “Customers will need the Ford Home Power Station and Ford Home Backup Power Panel, which is expected to cost at least 60% less than our first-generation home backup hardware,” the company said.

GM CEO Mary Barra Backs New Trucks
Meanwhile, General Motors Co. CEO Mary Barra, during the automaker’s earnings call with investors earlier this month, said that the company’s next-generation pickup trucks, like the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMCSierra, did not need incentives to perform well in the market, unlike rivals.
GM also announced a stock buyback worth $20 billion during the earnings call, which was criticized by Michigan Democratic Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who said the company should instead invest in its workforce and domestic production.

Building Wealth Across More Than Just the Market
Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That’s why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn’t tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.
EquityMultiple
For accredited investors looking beyond stocks and bonds, EquityMultiple provides access to vetted commercial real estate deals starting at $5,000, with only ~5% of opportunities passing their due diligence process.
Arrived
Backed by Jeff Bezos, Arrived Homes makes real estate investing accessible with a low barrier to entry. Investors can buy fractional shares of single-family rentals and vacation homes starting with as little as $100. This allows everyday investors to diversify into real estate, collect rental income, and build long-term wealth without needing to manage properties directly.
American PowerGen
As artificial intelligence drives a surge in electricity demand, reliable power generation is becoming a critical part of the technology ecosystem. American PowerGen is developing natural gas-fired power plants in Texas, a fast-growing market fueled by AI data centers, manufacturing expansion, and population growth. By advancing projects through permitting, fuel supply, and grid interconnection, the company is positioning itself to help meet rising energy needs while offering investors exposure to the infrastructure supporting the next wave of AI and industrial growth.
As AI coding tools take on more of the work traditionally done by developers, companies are facing new challenges around code quality, context and the rising cost of AI-powered development. Bito is building software designed to help AI coding agents better understand complex codebases while helping companies control AI development costs. Founded by former PubMatic executives, Bito has raised more than $10 million from institutional and individual investors and is now raising additional capital through a Wefunder offering, giving investors an opportunity to invest in a company targeting an emerging need within the rapidly expanding AI software market.
