Pramac Racing is set to make a major change to its MotoGP lineup, as Izan Guevara has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Jack Miller for the 2027 season. Team manager Paolo Campinotti has confirmed that there is a “good chance” Guevara will step up to the premier class with Pramac next year, a move that would almost certainly end Miller’s tenure with the team.
While Toprak Razgatlioglu’s contract secures his place in the team, Miller’s seat is apparently under threat amid ongoing speculation. Guevara, who currently sits second in the Moto2 World Championship for Blue Crew Pramac Yamaha Team, has quickly transformed from a scrappy rookie to a dominant force this season. After a slow start to his intermediate class career, failing to make the top 16 in his first two seasons and taking 39 races to reach his first podium, Guevara has exploded in 2026. He has an impeccable record of five podium finishes, including a victory at Le Mans, and has consistently finished in the top seven in every race so far.
Campinotti emphasized Guevara’s remarkable development during an interview on the Mig Babol YouTube channel, saying, “Guevara is improving a lot. We had a rider who seemed defeated, but he has bounced back. Our idea is to continue developing riders in Moto2 before taking them to MotoGP. That’s our goal.” The Italian manager also highlighted Guevara’s close relationship with Pramac team boss Gino Borsoi. Campinotti explained, “Guevara is a disciple of Gino Borsoi, because he has known him for many years.” “He won the world championship in Moto3, then strayed a bit in Moto2, and now he’s achieving his true potential. He’ll probably step up next year; there’s a good chance.”
Guevara’s impending promotion will prevent Jack Miller from getting a confirmed seat for 2027. With reportedly no other MotoGP rides available, Miller’s future in the premier class looks bleak. Rumors suggest he could either transition to a test rider role or make a bold transition to World Superbikes. The development underlines a wider generational shift in MotoGP, as promising talents such as David Alonso, Daniel Holgado and Senna Agius are also knocking on the door of the top level.
Pramac’s strategic decision to nurture their long-term ‘protégé’ Guevara signals a clear intention to refresh their lineup and invest in youth potential.
