Under Armor UA Storm Forefront, $40 (was $90)
Why do we like this deal?
In science, there is a big difference between experimental results coming back from the laboratory and results coming back from the field. The actual environment of the latter is less controlled and more unpredictable. When things work in a field-tested environment, it becomes instantly recognizable proof that you’re doing something. All that to say, I’ve tested this $40 Under Armor rain jacket in several Florida rains and I’m thoroughly impressed with it.
First, understand the price: Under Armor UA Storm FOREFRONT is 55% off with code Heat Now through July 8 as part of Under Armour’s semi-annual event. In many ways, it’s flown under the radar, not making it onto lists of the best rain jackets, where pricier offerings from Arc’teryx and The North Face typically get better traction. Still, it maintains an impressive 4.8-star rating from other users and, above all, it holds up where it matters most – under rainy skies.

What shoppers need to know
- available sizes: Small to 2XL
- Color Options: Only blue color is left in stock.
- Construction: 2-layer
- Waterproof?: Yes
- Windproof?: Yes
This is a lightweight two-layer rain jacket with deep waterproofing. It has a slightly glossy finish on the exterior and the Under Armor logo above the heart. Meanwhile, on the inside, everything is mesh, including the inside of the zippable hand pockets. This provides a secondary breathable layer and protects the contents of the pockets from waterlogging.
Stylistically, Under Armor seems to be in line with what a lot of outdoor brands are doing these days. For example, the zipper has the same type of rope you’ll see on REI’s outdoor joggers, which is a nice complement to this jacket. Finish it off with some Gore-Tex sneakers, and you’ve got a rain-ready fit.

My Honest Thoughts: It Works in the Florida Rain
Florida may be known as the Sunshine State, but those of us who live here know it’s probably better known as the Afternoon Rain State.
As such, I’ve been able to take this jacket out around the block several times over the past month in varying degrees of rain, from drizzle to moderate rain, without an umbrella. Every time I’ve noticed that my shirt has remained almost 100% dry, there is a small line of wetness after the zipper line near the top of my chest. One that dries quickly as soon as you take off the jacket.
I wore it to the beach once when I thought a rain storm was coming, which, in fact, never happened. The heat became noticeable very quickly, even with the jacket fully opened, but in actual rain the water itself is quite cold, and heating is still not an issue. For a $40 jacket, the value is real.
