How Your iPhone Can Track Your Body's Age, Fitness And Sleep

Apple has decided to make changes to its Health app. The tech giant has added AI-powered features to help users understand their health, daily habits and fitness. The updated app will now come to give personalised health insights, track long-term health trends and roll out a new feature called Health Age, which estimates how a person’s health is progressing compared to their actual age.

According to the company, the revamped Health app will offer language support to include global English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese. The John Ternus-led firm stated that it will bring its personalised health features to more users across the world.

One of the notable changes is the addition of a new Insights tab. It will combine information about a user’s heart health, sleep, fitness, readiness, vital signs and menstrual cycle tracking. The app will also feature a dedicated For You section that offers recommendations based on a person’s health data and daily routine.

Apple Health App Can Estimate Your Biological Age

Another significant addition is the new Longevity tab, which will give users a wider picture of their long-term health. It will analyse information related to heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, physical activity, metabolism, hearing and nutrition.

Moreover, the highlight is Health Age. It uses health measurements from an Apple Watch to estimate how a person’s body is aging compared to their actual age. The feature considers indicators such as VO2 max, resting heart rate, sleep patterns and heart rate variability. Users can also add laboratory test results, including HbA1c and LDL cholesterol, to get a more detailed picture of their health.

iPhone Camera Can Assess Fitness At Home

Apple is bringing movement assessments that users can perform at home without specialised fitness equipment. Using an iPhone camera and Apple Watch, people will be able to evaluate their strength, flexibility, balance, movement patterns and VO2 max.

This redesigned Health app is currently available through the iOS 27.3 developer beta. Apple plans to release it as a free software update later this year. Notably, the Health Age feature will need an Apple Watch, while some features will be restricted to users aged 18 and above.
