Highest-ever number of Canadian podcast listeners

• Podcasts in Canada now reach more Canadians than ever before, reporting the largest single-year increase of 46% in listeners per month, according to Triton Digital’s fourth annual Canadian Podcast Report. (For English-speaking Canadians, that number is 49%.)

  • Data shows that YouTube is the most used podcast platform in the country; Apple Podcasts is the #1 RSS-based podcast app – Apple gets 49% of all new episode downloads. The iHeartRadio app (operated by Bell Media in the country) has a 3% share. The report includes demographics for each player – with Apple Podcasts users, predictably, twice as likely to earn more than $100,000 than YouTube users.
  • Canadians are also listening to more podcasts (4.1 in 2025; 3.5 in 2023); Francophone consumption has bounced back by 33% per week.

• Triton Digital also released its Australian Podcast Ranker for May 2026. Hamish and Andy are the men of tomorrow; They have lost the #1 spot to Mamamia Out Loud. The highest new entry was from Nova Podcast at #88, with a show we’ll call DYFM.
