I went from wanting a restomod 68′ Camaro SS to anything that would get good mileage and not require shooting up parts every year. I want my mechanic to be left alone.

I feel bad for your mechanic, but maybe that’s a good goal. I could learn a thing or two about it.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve shifted toward choosing the driving experience over power or performance numbers. I was at the “peak” of owning a 6MT CT5V BW and then a 6MT G80. Now I drive a Fiesta ST and a few other older hot hatches and I’m enjoying them far more than the bigger and more powerful cars.

The CT5-V Blackwing is a great car, but I found it got old after just a few minutes of launch and burnout. I agree, the Fiesta ST is a much more fun car to drive.
Ultimately, class consciousness and climate disaster have made it really hard to maintain car enthusiasm, and so my car dreams have become more realistic. These days I’m yearning for a Nissan 300ZX or a Volvo 780 Bertone, maybe if I’m lucky someday I’ll get one of the GTS model R32 Skylines that show up here from time to time.

These are things I struggle with on a daily basis. Human beings are beautifully vast, layered and delightfully full of contradictions.
A supercar like the F1 or Veyron would be amazing, but also scary (out of my league) and ultimately heartbreaking.
If you’re buying a sports car on credit, and you have to think about payments, that car is out of your league. You won’t be able to handle it properly and it will break your heart. After you break the car for everyone else.
Cut your price point in half and look again.

If the monthly car payment is even a little bit high, you shouldn’t get that car, no matter what it is. That’s just smart money.
Yep, I always thought those V8, muscle cars were great, now I realize they run like a boat, and use a lot of gas! The Miata is now my favorite car!

I believe the LS-swapped ND-generation Miata is the best car I’ve ever driven, because it’s the best of both worlds.
