In 1989 Romania, in the twilight of Nicolae Ceaușescu’s dictatorship, when even family, friends, and neighbors could not be trusted, rumors of a man-eating bear set a police detective and a young schoolgirl on a collision course for disaster. Police detective Constantin is assigned to solve a series of mysterious deaths. Meanwhile, rebellious schoolgirl Lia befriends her elderly neighbor and becomes embroiled in his plot to overthrow the Ceaușescu regime. Although they don’t realize it yet, the choices each of them make will have consequences for their families and beyond.
