Duck Camp has become one of those companies I always make time to visit I took. Their clothing is as comfortable on the water as it is worn in the city, so I stopped by their booth to talk with Orin Bass and find out what the company is most excited about for the year ahead.
For Bass, the answer came immediately.
The product he’s most looking forward to is the new Scout Anorak jacket, which will be part of Duck Camp’s Spring 2027 lineup.
This jacket was inspired by the company’s popular scout shortsA lightweight nylon short that has developed a loyal following because it can handle almost anything. Bass said fishermen wear them on the boat, in the water, at the gym and everywhere in between. The new jacket takes the same versatile material and layers it in a lightweight outer layer designed for cool mornings or windy days. “The idea was to create something for those early mornings on the boat or whenever you want to block the wind,” Bass said.
The Scout Anorak features a 100 percent nylon shell with a durable water-repellent finish, a large kangaroo pocket, a zippered chest pocket, and elastic cuffs and hem. Bass said the $119 price makes it one of the best values duck camp ever offered.
“For the price, you’re getting features that typically cost a lot more,” he said. “I think this is going to be one of the biggest winners in our Spring 2027 lineup.”
While new products always attract attention, Bass said one longtime favorite is outselling almost everything else in Duck Camp’s lineup.
That honor belongs to the Blue Crab Hat. “I would have thought it would be mostly a Southern or Chesapeake Bay thing,” Bass said. “But we’ve seen people all across the country, even in California, buying that hat.” Much of the popularity of the Bass hat is attributed to its embroidery. “If you really look at it, it’s the details of the stitching,” he said. “Blue and red just pop.”
Although Bass admitted his personal favorite is the English Setter hat, he said the blue crab design remains Duck Camp’s best-seller and shows no signs of slowing down.
