Dorado Motorsports opens pre-orders for electric dirt bike with swappable 7.2 kWh battery – thepack.news

San Francisco-based electric dirt bike startup, Dorado Motorsports, has opened pre-orders for its V3 model, a full-size off-road electric motorcycle built around a swappable battery pack. A $100 deposit reserves one unit, with an estimated purchase price of $10,499.

The company was founded by Erez Frank and Nick Kluger, who grew up riding gas dirt bikes in the Sierra Nevada. Frank, the CEO, has a background in economics and data analytics. Kluger, CTO, has a mechanical and engineering background from childhood and experience in professional workshop settings.

The V3 is powered by a 36 kW (48 hp) motor running at 81V, paired with a 7.2 kWh swappable battery. Dorado says the bike offers a range of more than 70 trail miles and a top speed of 80 mph. Charging time is listed at two hours on a 220V outlet.

The suspension comes from KYB, with 12.2 inches of travel in the front and 12.5 inches in the rear. Brakes are hydraulic discs, 270 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear. The bike has front tire 80/100-21 and rear tire 120/90-18.

Other dimensions: seat height 37.2 inches, wheelbase 58.6 inches, 27.2 degrees rake, 4.6 inches trail and 14.1 inches ground clearance. Claimed weight ranges from 230 to 260 pounds.
