With the NBA free agency market officially open, moves for some high-profile players already completed, it seems like the entire world is waiting to see what LeBron James will do next. The controversial GOAT has been pretty quiet about his plans in the 2026-2027 NBA season, only revealing that he will no longer be playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. According to the news, there are several teams looking to acquire the Ohio native and the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as the favorites to acquire him.
Having said all that, in a clip that surfaced on social media on the evening of July 15, it appears that Championship Warriors coach Steve Kerr may have leaked that his team has “got him (James).” Will James play with Steph Curry?
“We got him,” Steve Kerr told fans.

In the video, Kerr is seen driving up to a traffic light. With his window down, he greets fans, saying, “How are you guys?” The fans respond, “Okay,” before one of them says to Kerr, “And we need to bring LeBron, man.” After asking him to repeat the question, Kerr, without missing a beat, appears to say, “Oh, we got that.” Kerr then punctuated the statement by saying, “Put it on Twitter.” Take a look at the brief exchange below.

Now, at the time of publication, it’s not at all clear whether Kerr was serious or simply making a quick joke to fans. However, if there is truth to Kerr’s comments, James could potentially work with not only Curry but also Draymond Green, Al Horford, and possibly Jimmy Butler.
If Kerr was joking, Miami is a strong LeBron James contender
When James left the Miami Heat to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014, it seemed as if there would be no scenario in which he would ever return to South Beach. Well, thanks to Miami’s recent acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo, James may be in the market for a reunion with Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra. Additionally, his pairing with Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins can create magic on the floor and make the Heat very competitive against the defending champions, the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics. I dare say the Heat almost have a championship caliber team again with James, especially if the Heat can also acquire another guard like Bradley Beal or Klay Thompson.
