Bezzecchi holds six MotoGP track records, ahead of Márquez

Marco Bezzecchi now holds the fastest lap times on six different circuits of the 2026 MotoGP calendar, a feat that eclipses even the legendary Marc Márquez. The Aprilia rider surpasses the nine-time world champion’s tally of five circuit records, while Jorge Martín rounds out the top three with three fastest laps.

Bezzecchi’s six benchmark lap records span Thailand (1:28.526), Goiania (1:17.408), Mugello (1:43.921), Aragón (1:44.962), Misano (1:29.982) and Valencia (1:28.809). Five of these were set during the current 2026 season. The sole exception is the Valencia record, dating back to last year’s 2025 season in Cheste.

This puts Aprilia in a commanding position, as the manufacturer now owns half of the fastest laps across the 22-race calendar.

Márquez, Martín and the other record holders

Marc Márquez, once the undisputed leader in this area, now trails with five historic fastest laps recorded at Le Mans (1:29.288), Sachsenring (1:19.041), Balaton (1:36.518), Losail (1:50.499) and Portimao (1:37.226). These records are spread across three seasons: two from 2026, two from 2025 and one from 2023.

The Portimao lap remains the oldest on the list and one of the most enduring marks in the championship, still unbeaten after several years.

Jorge Martín, riding for Ducati, holds three circuit records this year with fastest laps at Silverstone (1:56.160), Austria (1:27.748) and Japan (1:42.371). Fabio Quartararo and Pecco Bagnaia each hold two records.

Quartararo’s fastest laps come from Jerez (1:35.610) and Phillip Island (1:26.465), both set in 2025. Bagnaia’s records at Assen (1:30.540) and Sepang (1:56.337) date back to 2024, making them some of the oldest benchmarks alongside Márquez’s Portimao time.

Four riders hold a single circuit record each: Diggia at COTA (2:00.136), Álex Márquez at Montmeló (1:37.536), Ogura at Brno (1:51.139) and Raúl Fernández at Mandalika (1:28.725). This diversity of record holders, nine riders in total, highlights the intensely competitive and unpredictable nature of the current MotoGP season.

Aprilia leads the manufacturer tally

Aprilia leads the manufacturer tally with 11 of the 22 fastest lap records, thanks to Bezzecchi, Martín, Ogura and Raúl Fernández. Ducati is close behind with nine records, held by Márquez, Bagnaia, Diggia and Álex Márquez, while Yamaha holds the remaining two, both attributed to Quartararo.

The data reflect the rapid evolution of lap times in recent years, with 13 of the 22 records established in 2026 alone, six in 2025, two in 2024 and just one in 2023. Riders continue to push the limits, and the few older records at Assen, Sepang and Portimao are potential breakthroughs in coming seasons.

Manuel Rodríguez, reporting for Motosan, captures the pulse of this dynamic championship, emphasizing how Bezzecchi’s rise signals a new era of Aprilia’s dominance over traditional powerhouses like Ducati. This rewriting of the record books is not just a statistical milestone, it is a clear message that the balance of power in MotoGP is shifting.
