Allen Edmonds Lewis Penny Loafer, from $68 (was $300)
Why do we like this deal?
Right now might be the best time to shop at Nordstrom Rack. The retailer is in the midst of a Clear the Rack sale, one of its periodic kill-price sales that adds an additional 25% off on top of clearance products. Most of the discounts right now are reaching the 75% off limit, and even include designer goods. Allen Edmonds, one of the bigger names you’ll find here, has a pair of comfortable summer loafers for less than $70.
The $300 Allen Edmonds Lewis Penny Loafers are now just $68 at Nordstrom Rack. Only the black loafers are eligible for the extra 25% off, but the four other colors are also on sale for $140 to $150. The sale is set to end on July 9th, so be sure to take a look at these and the rest of the sales to get the best savings from this retailer all summer long.

What shoppers need to know
- Upper: Calfskin leather with antique finish patina
- Outsole: nub rubber, driving-shoe manufacturing
- Construction: Slip-On with Penny Keeper Strap
- Best for: Desk-to-weekend wear, business casual
Lewis abandons the strictly welded construction that Allen Edmonds uses on its dressier loafers for a driving-shoe construction, which is why the sole here is rubber and nub instead of single-layer leather. This compromise makes it more comfortable underfoot and less slippery on wet pavement. The antique finish on the calfskin keeps them polished, and they’re finished with a classic penny keeper strap.
At full price, $300 puts this shoe firmly among the crowded middle of the heritage leather market. Some of the brand’s shoes are also part of the Clear the Rack sale, so it’s worth checking out if these aren’t working for you.

what shoppers are saying
There aren’t too many reviews online for this particular model, but one shopper from Nordstrom Rack wrote that they are “good looking and comfortable.” In general, Allen Edmonds loafers built on the same driving-sole construction are consistently praised for their comfort, as the rubber sole is more flexible than the brand’s welded dress shoes. Another shopper mentioned the Fit – while the Fit runs the TTS for most, given Allen Edmonds’ narrow designs, anyone in between sizes would go up a size.
Getting a pair of real-deal leather loafers for under $70 is always a win, and Allen Edmonds’ Lewis Penny Loafers are no exception. Be sure to get a pair while the sizes are still in stock.
