Alexander Skarsgård takes skirt style to the red carpet, challenging the rules of men’s fashion

Alexander Skarsgård is making a case for dressing without boundaries, one red carpet at a time. Last year, it was his crimson nails at the Governors Awards, a small but pointed statement that the freedom to adorn oneself has no gender. This time, the actor has taken that argument several steps further, trading conventional red-carpet tailoring for a skirt.

The actor attended the Los Angeles premiere of Wicker, a romantic fantasy in which he plays a husband made of straw and woven wicker who comes to life and falls for Oli audiences off guard, and his red-carpet look offered its own departure from the expected

His approach to fashion has questioned the conventions that dictate how men should dress, and this latest appearance adds to that conversation. If last year’s crimson nails challenged the boundaries of men’s beauty, the kilt makes a similar argument about clothing. That a skirt need not invite scrutiny simply because a man is wearing it.

Just days earlier, the actor had drawn attention at the London Film Festival for wearing barely-there shoes. Between unconventional footwear and a skirt on the red carpet, Alexander appears in no hurry to follow the usual rules of men’s fashion.
