About donated equipment
Laparoscopic surgery is a surgical method based on modern medical technology. Special instruments are used to operate through small holes and incisions. To gain proficiency in this technique, doctors need regular practice, manual dexterity, instrument handling and technical skill development.
The endotrainer is said to give doctors a chance to practice in a controlled environment before taking part in real surgeries. NAMS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Acharya said it is expected to help improve doctors’ hand skills, instrument handling ability and practical proficiency.
Karnali Academy of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr
Karnali Academy of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Meyangbo expressed confidence that the equipment received would be used effectively to make surgical training more organised and technology-friendly.
Former NDA UK president Dr Thewe said the main aim of the program is to enable patients to receive safe, effective and quality treatment by improving doctors’ skills.
The program was chaired by Rotary Club of Kashthamandap President Shailesh Baidya. Rotary International District 3292 Governor Bishnu Bahadur Karki and Prof. Dr Manohar Lal Shrestha also took part, along with representatives and members of the stakeholder institutions.
