The injury occurred during the sprint race, where Martín was locked in a heated duel with Márquez, before a high-speed tumble at Turn 8 left him with a fracture near his right wrist.

Initial fears of a more severe injury were allected second fracture to the ulna. The radius fracture was non-displaced, sparing Martín from immediate surgery and allowing him to pursue an aggressive rehabilitation schedule

The cancellation of the main race due to adverse weather conditions further prevented Martín from missing out on championship points and curtailed Márquez’s opportunity to extend his lead. Currently, Ducati rider Márquez tops the standings with a ten-point lead over Martín, with Marco Bezzecchi trailing third by fifty points.

Two-phase recovery plan

Martín’s recovery plan, meticulously crafted by Aitor Tomas, physiotherapist for both Martín and Pedro Acosta, is divided into two critical phases. After flying from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur, Martín is working alongside a trusted local physiotherapist under Tomas’s guidance.

Tomas will join the camp on Tuesday to oversee the intensive treatment of the right arm.

“We will start by focusing on reducing inflammation and managing the bone injury,” Tomas explained. “Our goal is to recover mobility, strength, and functionality through cryotherapy and targeted massage.”

The second phase targets bone regeneration using magnetotherapy, aiming to progressively strengthen the radius in time for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Tomas acknowledges the challenge ahead: “This process will be tough and likely painful, but the objective remains clear — getting Jorge back on the bike by Friday in Sepang.”

This crucial rehabilitation window places immense pressure on Martín as he fights to maintain his championship aspirations against Márquez. With only days to prove his fitness, the Aprilia rider’s resilience and the effectiveness of his recovery regimen will be put to the test at the Sepang International Circuit.
