Dubai to Host New HYBRDX Fitness Competition With AED 1 Million Prize Pool

Dubai will host a new international hybrid fitness competition, HYBRDX, from January 15 to 17, 2027, at Kite Beach, offering an AED 1 million prize pool and aiming to attract 3,500 participants.

Created by XDubai in partnership with Dubai Sports Council, the three-day event will combine running, strength training and functional fitness, welcoming professional athletes and amateur competitors.

Organizers describe the AED 1 million prize pool as the third-largest in the global hybrid fitness competition category, positioning HYBRDX as a significant new addition to Dubai’s sporting calendar.

HYBRDX Dubai 2027: Competition Format

The inaugural HYBRDX competition will challenge participants to complete eight 800-metre runs, each followed by a workout station testing different aspects of physical fitness.

Competitors will cover a total of 6.4 kilometres of running alongside eight functional workout challenges.

The event will feature four competition categories:

  • Elite: Competitive athletes participating individually or in doubles.
  • Everyday: Fitness enthusiasts of different experience levels competing individually or in pairs.
  • Juniors: Young athletes aged 14 to 16 competing in doubles.
  • Invitational: Selected athletes competing by invitation for a share of the prize money.

No qualification is required for the Elite, Everyday or Juniors categories, making the competition accessible to a broad range of fitness enthusiasts.

AED 1 Million Prize Pool and International Athletes

The AED 1 million prize pool will be distributed between the Invitational and Elite competitions.

Eight founding athletes from Dubai’s fitness community are helping develop the competition format and athlete experience.

They include international fitness competitor Jake Hendry, Jamie Greene, Yousef Al Gurg and Amal Murad.

Through its “What’s Your X?” campaign, HYBRDX aims to encourage participants to set personal goals, challenge their physical limits and connect with Dubai’s fitness community.

Adidas and BEYOND Developments Support HYBRDX

HYBRDX has secured several major partnerships ahead of its debut.

BEYOND Developments will serve as Title Partner, while adidas joins as Performance Partner, supporting the competition’s focus on running, strength and endurance.

Mohammad Javad, Executive Vice President of Leisure & Entertainment at Shamal Holding, said the event reflects Dubai’s ambition to strengthen its position as a global sporting destination.

He highlighted the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, under which the sports sector’s economic contribution is targeted to reach AED 18.3 billion by 2033.

Adidas EMC Senior Vice President and General Manager Bilal Fares said hybrid training is changing athletic performance by combining speed, strength and endurance.

Dubai Expands Its Sports Tourism Calendar

The launch of HYBRDX adds another international sporting attraction to Dubai, which continues to invest in fitness events, outdoor recreation and sports tourism.

Located along the city’s coastline, Kite Beach is already a popular destination for runners, cyclists and outdoor fitness enthusiasts.

The January competition will bring together local gyms, coaches, international athletes and recreational competitors for three days of sporting activities.

With its substantial prize pool, accessible competition categories and beachfront setting, HYBRDX aims to establish itself as a recurring event on Dubai’s international fitness calendar.

The inaugural HYBRDX Dubai competition takes place from January 15 to 17, 2027, with registration available at hybrdx.ae.
