In the last ten years, there have been some wartime films that have enthralled cinephiles. Take critically acclaimed movies, for example Hacksaw Ridge, outpostAnd All Quiet on the Western Front. Each of them proved to be a big hit with critics, and audiences couldn’t appreciate them enough. That being said, there is a film released in 2026 that, despite its modest performance at the box office, has proven to be one of the best wartime dramas of the last ten years. And guess what, it’s now streaming on Peacock. So what is this film and why is it being given so much respect?

Released in the United States on May 29, 2026, Pressure It is based on the true events surrounding the infamous D-Day invasion in Normandy, France, which turned the tide for the Allied forces in World War II. Prior to the invasion, bad weather throws plans for it into question, and it is left to then-General Dwight D. Eisenhower (Oscar winner Brendan Fraser) and RAF Group Captain James Stagg (Andrew Scott) to make the difficult decision between choosing victory or possibly allowing the Nazis to grow to power. ‘Pressure’ is certified fresh and moviegoers love it even more
Both critics and your “average” moviegoer are loving it Pressure. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film is certified fresh with a Tomatometer score of 87%, and what’s more impressive is that it has a Popcornmeter score of 95% (which is the fans’ score). The Popcornmeter score is actually higher than any of the other films mentioned previously. Heck, the score is even higher than that Oppenheimer.
Back to the critics. nprDaniel Jonah Wolpert said, “For all the prior cinematic depictions of stormed bunkers and camaraderie under fire, Pressure offers us the quiet heroism of rational restraint in the portrait of James Stagg, who faced his inner storms and had the courage to be disliked.”
Bilge Ebiri’s vulture Wrote, “The beauty of Pressure It’s that it gives us the contemplative space to think beyond the boundaries of this specific historical event, which is the ultimate purpose of most good war movies.
