If you know motorcycle racing, you know that the Red Bull Rookies Cup feeds the Moto3 World Championship, which ultimately feeds the MotoGP grid. But long before the riders reach the Red Bull Rookies Cup, they are competing in MotoMiniGP. It’s small by name, but not by nature.
The MotoMini World Series is essentially the first step on the ladder to MotoGP, as the classes and machines are standardized. At the moment, there are two ranges: MotoMini 160 and MotoMini 190. The Motomini 160 caters to riders ages 10-14 on Ohvale GP-0 160 bikes, while the Motomini 190 is for riders ages 12-16 on Ohvale GP-2 190 Daytona machines.
Since the FIM and Dorna officially launched the FIM MiniGP World Series in 2021, Ohwell machinery has been used in the championship. But from 2028, we could see a new manufacturer replace Ohvale as the sole motorcycle manufacturer supporting the series, as the FIM will re-establish the series within MotoGP’s overall road umbrella.
The FIM and MotoGP are looking for an exclusive official motorcycle manufacturer to provide safe, high-performance and accessible entry-level racing machines that promote rider development and advancement in competitive motorcycle racing.
Proposals are now invited from manufacturers to support the continued global grassroots growth of our sport. The objective of the FIM and MotoGP is to identify and partner with the most suitable manufacturer to meet the defined criteria in terms of technical specifications, budget, production capabilities and global support for the development of the programme.

Of course, any manufacturer can apply, but the reality is that only a select few, including Buki Moto, IMR and Beyoncé, have a range of machines that could put them in competition for a contract in 2028. It is also important to note that, although the tender is open, there is nothing stopping the organizers from choosing Ohwale for 2028.
