Why do we like this deal?
Asics has been refining the sole running shoe for more than 30 years, ever since Toshikazu Kayano created a stability trainer inspired by the stag beetle’s exoskeleton in ’93. That shoe became the iconic Gel-Kayano, and since then it has evolved through more than 30 versions, from a shoe built for overpronators to what Asics now markets as a shoe suitable for almost any runner. The $165 Asics Gel-Kayano 32 Running Shoes are now available for just $125 at Amazon. There are approximately eight colorways on sale at this price, but price will vary by size for all but the black and white shoes shown here. This is the first wave of markdowns for this iteration of Kayano. There is a possibility that it may sell further, but at that point, historically, that’s when sizes are missing somewhat. Bottom line: If you want a pair, get them whenever possible.

The Kayano’s reputation for fitting almost any runner comes thanks to the 4D Guidance System, which replaces the old hard-elastic medial post with a soft foam pod that adapts to each foot’s movement. This is a big change from earlier Kaynos, which were built more narrowly for overpronators, and now the 32 is so forgiving that neutral runners prefer them. The PureGel in the heel adds a plush landing, which is why this version of the Kaynos is so often recommended as daily trainers and has received approval by the American Podiatric Medical Association as a shoe that has been proven to promote foot health.
Now, Asics has fallen out of the top spot among popular running shoes in favor of Hoka. Compared to Hoka’s Arahi, the Kaynos trades some weight and packability for a more adaptive ride, but the Arahi is great if you need some extra stability.
Against the Brooks Adrenaline GTS, another popular stability shoe in 2026, the comparison is closer as both are stationary trainers at the same price range, but the Adrenaline relies on a fixed medial wedge, while the Kayano’s 4D system optimizes through runs. Runners who find shoes with rigid stability generally uncomfortable (or who bounce between neutral and stability needs) are usually the ones who win over them.
