Jannik Sinner praised what Alexander Zverev said after winning Wimbledon

Jannik Sinner continued his dominance at Wimbledon on Sunday, defeating Alexander Zverev 6-7 (7), 7-6 (2), 6-3, 6-4 to win his second consecutive title.

The win marked the fifth Grand Slam title of Sinner’s young career and served as a strong response after being eliminated in the second round of the French Open, her last tournament before reaching Wimbledon.

Despite the success, Sinner continues to deliver an excellent performance time and again.

After falling to the grass in celebration, Sinner quickly got to his feet to shake Zverev’s hand. He wasted no time before delivering a heartfelt message to his opponent during the trophy ceremony.

“Amazing. But as Sasha did, I want to start with you and your entire team and family. You achieved one of your goals by winning a Grand Slam. You accomplished it in Paris. Today you were very close,” Sinner said, “If you play like this I’m sure you will have it at home too. Amazing. Keep going. I know the goal for you is to become No. 1 in the world. You are very close. We have to be very careful now.”

Zverev praised Sinner, although he also mocked his recent struggles in head-to-head matches against the 24-year-old Italian.

“Yeah, first of all, Janick, I don’t really like you anymore.” Zverev joked. “I have lost to you nine times in a row. Congratulations to Jannik. He showed once again why he is the best player in the world. It was great to share center court with you on the final weekend. It is a great honor to be here. Unfortunately, it did not go my way, but first of all congratulations.”
