Juventus’ pursuit of Randle Kolo Muani has reached a serious impasse, as CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the French striker’s transfer fee remain deadlocked. The Turin giants, who are still reeling from the departure of Dusan Vlahovic following the expiry of his contract on June 30, have made no secret of their ambition to secure a new centre-forward. However, their attempt to land Kolo Muani, who impressed with eight goals in 16 Serie A outings during his loan spell in the latter half of the 2024-25 season, has not been straightforward.
Recent reports from Italy suggest that Juventus’ offer – a loan with an option to buy for a total of €33 million – was immediately rejected by PSG, who are demanding at least €40 million for the prolific attacker. Carnevali, speaking candidly in an interview on Tuesday, highlighted the current state of the game: “For Kolo Muani, the demands have not decreased and we have not increased the offer, but we are working hard on it,” he said, underscoring the persistent difference between the two clubs’ valuations.
Crucially, Carnevali was quick to emphasize that Juventus are not putting all their eggs in the Kolo Muani basket. “I won’t just focus on that. If there is a big gap, we have to make the right assessment. We are trying to do the best thing possible,” he declared, indicating a wider search for attacking reinforcements should talks with PSG be put on hold indefinitely.
The Juventus CEO also put an end to any speculation about a possible return of Vlahovic and confirmed that there have been no discussions about a contract renewal: “We did not meet with him (Vlahovic).” He revealed that Alexander Sorloth is firmly on the club’s radar as an alternative target, but made it clear that the shortlist extends beyond the Norwegian forward: “The doors are open not only for Sorloth, but also for other players.”
Juventus’ ambitions are not limited to the attacking line. Carnevali acknowledged the club’s strong interest in Argentina international goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. “We have to wait. We have interest in Martínez, but he is also an interesting profile for many other teams. There will be a lot of opportunities. There are players who are already highly rated and who we should keep a close eye on,” Carnevali commented, highlighting the competitive landscape for elite talents in the market.
As Juventus begin a crucial summer of squad rebuilding, Carnevali’s statements show a club committed to strengthening key positions without making increased demands, setting the stage for a transfer window full of intrigue and high-stakes talks.
