LayerX Suppression Streak 9K | guncon 2026

Last week, I attended GunCon. In industrial events, it stands out as the best. I have a close relationship with TGC’s John Patton and Cody Hinton, who host and organize the event, but this is an objective opinion: If you’re a firearms enthusiast, you really should be there. People travel far and wide to attend. Whether you’re there to see your favorite brand, discover a new one, attend a panel, or meet your favorite Gunfluencers, GunCon is the right place for you. One of the common themes at GunCon was oppressors. They were everywhere. One of the more interesting companies was LayerX Suppression. Their owner and chief engineer spent over a decade at AAC and has a wealth of experience. Of his offerings, streak 9k It was most interesting. This is a suppressor designed for the PCC (and will apparently work on the pistol as well).

compact size, big repression

The Streak 9K represents the latest evolution of the Streak suppressor family, whose design focuses on providing top-tier sound suppression in a compact pistol-caliber package. Rather than pursue size or weight reductions alone, the goal of development was to create what the company describes as its best-looking pistol-caliber suppressor yet, while minimizing common shortcomings such as excessive back pressure and first-round pop.

To accomplish this, the Streak 9K utilizes a proprietary hybrid-flow Strand DNA system, designed to balance suppression performance with a more comfortable shooting experience. The result is a suppressor engineered specifically for shooter-ear performance, reducing the amount of gas directed back toward the shooter while maintaining effective sound reduction on both pistol and pistol-caliber carbines.

Built for PCC and pistol

The Streak 9K was designed with platforms such as MP5 and other roller-delayed PCCs in mind, though its versatility extends far beyond those applications. Featuring industry-standard hub/bravo threads, the suppressor is compatible with a wide range of mounting solutions, including direct-thread, tri-lug, and quick-detach systems. It can also be used on handguns when paired with a booster assembly.

Constructed from Grade 5 titanium via DMLS, the suppressor combines lightweight durability with advanced internal geometry. The integrally designed inverted flash hider and micro-braking exhaust vent further enhance performance by reducing visible muzzle flash, which is typically expected from a suppressor of this class. The unit is outfitted with AlphaTech, a low-IR-signature, high-thermal-wear coating designed to withstand demanding use.

zoom out

I shot it on an MP5-style PCC, and man, was it impressive. I was even more impressed after talking to owner and designer Joshua Hood. There is a lot of technology built into this can. And it can handle more than 9mm. The Streak 9K is rated for the following: 9mm, .357/.38 spl, .300 BLK, .350 Legend, .308 Win, .338 ARC, 5.56 NATO, 7.62×39, 8.6 BLK (double check barrel length restrictions). That’s a lot of versatility. Be sure to check it out.
