REI Co-op ZeroCloud 3L Rain Jacket, $100 (was $189)
Why is this a big deal?
REI recently kicked off its week-long 4th of July Deals program, during which shoppers can expect to find deals on marked-down outdoor gear, camping equipment, cycling products and more. Outdoor apparel is also a big part of this sale, and if you’re planning on touring in wet weather this summer, an REI House Brand Triple-Layer Rain Jacket is worth buying, as it’s nearly halved in price.
The REI Co-op ZeroCloud 3L Rain Jacket is on sale for $100, which is 47% off the original $189 price tag. This item has a perfect 90 five-star rating at REI and ranges in sizes from S to 3XL. Two colors, REI Red and Echo Gray, are available at this price, while Stone Blue is on sale for $130. Whichever you choose, it will be hard to beat the price of this three-layer rain jacket – typically, they cost between $150 on the low end and $450 or more on the high end.

What shoppers need to know
- Packable: Yes
- Waterproof: Yes
- weight: 13.4 ounces
- Suitable: a little bigger
- back length: Yes
- Best for: spring hiking, travel, rainy trips
There are many different settings in which you can use this rain jacket, but REI recommends that it is best for wet hikes. This is probably because, unlike a lot of jackets, it can be easily packed away and fit into your left side pocket (or your bag) when you don’t need it. When you wear it, it will prove to be waterproof with its nylon and polyester facing and seam-sealed material, which will prevent moisture from getting inside.
It’s also stretchy, making it useful when trekking a trail or walking around the neighborhood. Additionally, there are also pit zips that you can use for heat relief, which is common in rain jackets, allowing your body to breathe easily and regulate your temperature.
Another note on price: Rain jackets come in all shapes, sizes, and thicknesses. Yes, there are more affordable options, like this single-layer jacket that Walmart has for about $10. But the big thing here is the cost of the layers. Here you get three layers of protection for not a lot of money—much less than the higher-end options found at REI.

what shoppers are saying
Many buyers have tested this rain jacket, and in most cases it has passed with good results. “I bought this for a trip to Honduras,” said one buyer. “It was amazing. Kept it going through everything from drizzle to torrential rain… It was a fantastic wind and rain barrier. Stayed very dry.”
Another reviewer made a great point, saying that while rain jackets are often a pain to get out of your wardrobe and wear, this REI creation is an exception. “I hate the loud, rattling sound of cheap rain jackets, so I knew I needed to step up the bar after moving to Seattle,” he said. “I did a lot of research comparing options in this price range…this is definitely the one. No stickiness inside, no vibration outside. Great venting.”
